Ye Know t'Amazon Coat That Took Over ye Internet? It’s Now 1 o'Oprah’s Fa'orite Thin's

I’m a California lass li’in’ in New York City; when it hails t’Winter coats, I don’t mess around. Recently, I’ve been in yonder market fer a new style. Thar be so many fun, fashion-forward silhouettes this season, but I ne’er actually buy them, because I’m worried they won’t keep me warm. So here I was, mindin’ me own business, when I happened upon Arielle Charnas, aka Somethin’ Navy’s Instagram Story. She was talkin’ about some coat that she was wearin’ an’ lo’in’, an’ casually mentioned it was from Amazon. Me ears perked up, an’ I started doin’ a little more research.

T’ origin o’thar coat be slightly unclear; it apparently started wi’ a teacher, an’ soon caught on t’e’ery mom on ye Upper East Side o’Manhattan, before tricklin’ its way downtown t’har Daily Gawk offices an’ me neighborhood.

Known colloquially as ye “Amazon Coat” or t’“Upper East Side Mom Coat,” this Orolay Women’s Thickened Down Jacket ($83, originally $140) be a New York City staple. An’ when I say that, I’m not exaggeratin’: in t’last week I’ve seen around 20 women wearin’ this coat, an’ I saw three women wearin’ it jus’ in me commute this mornin’. T’ origin o’ye coat be slightly unclear; it apparently started wi’ a teacher, an’ soon caught on t’e’ery mom on yonder Upper East Side o’Manhattan, before tricklin’ its way downtown t’ye Daily Gawk offices an’ me neighborhood. E’eryone I meet asks ‘un question, “Be it worth buyin’?” an’ I can answer wi’ an emphatic yarr.

I understand why moms wanted t’wear this coat. They want somethin’ that’s got grand pockets, that can withstand juice spills an’ doesn’t feel too precious. Plus, it’s got a grand, thick, shearlin’ lined hood that doesn’t budge an’ keeps ye toasty, even through particularly difficult windchill. An’ also, this coat be warm. Like, actually warm. I classify me coats as either a 40-degree coat or a 20-degree coat, an’ this be definitely a 20-degree coat. I don’t know how, but it’s made o’real down. I’ve spilled matcha on it, an’ it slides right off. As if that wasn’t enough, t’coat has an o’ersize parka style that looks much more expensi’e than it be; someone asked me if it was designer, an’ I was proud t’say that I got it on Amazon.

Someone asked me if it was designer, an’ I was proud t’say that I got it on Amazon.

If it wasn’t abundantly clear, ye should buy this coat. It will get ye through this season ye way only a great coat can, an’ ye’ll find yerself bein’ irrationally excited an’ proud o’it, like I am. Yonder coat hails in five colors, an’ fits pretty true t’size. I go between a small an’ a medium, but usually buy medium coats. I took yonder medium in this style, an’ it’s slightly o’ersize but in a good way; I’m happy I didn’t go wi’ yonder small. Thar style also features two side zippers that can make it tighter or looser.
I’ll lea’e ye wi’ this last piece o’encouragement. When I walked in t’har office this mornin’, I started talkin’ t’some coworkers about t’fact that I was writin’ this story. Within minutes, heads were peekin’ up from computers an’ people were askin’ t’ry it on. So basically, go pick up this coat before ye entire Daily Gawk office beats ye t’it.
